Pastoral ministry is essential for the ongoing wellbeing of the lives of those we have been entrusted to steward. This responsibility is not limited to the function of churches, but is equally relevant when we are influencers in families, work places, and communities. Wherever there are people, there will be a responsibility and a response to the hearts and lives of these people.

Irrespective of where your lives have been planted, there is one common denominator between all of us: we have been planted alongside people! The first line of pastoral ministry within these spheres of influence will have three main impacts:

  1. Encouraging people to step up into God’s creative design for their lives. If He knitted them in their mother’s womb and wrote of their days in a book (Psalm 139:13, 16), encouragement becomes a clarion call that leads people out of limited living and into the abundance He created them for. This is first inner abundance that then overflows into external abundance where visible fruit of health is seen by others.
  2. Establishing an awareness of identity and inheritance. Ministering identity reminds people who God says they are and who He is to them. This revelation enhances the potential to live out of the inheritance given to those who have God as their Heavenly Father. Much like natural inheritance that comes at the death of a person, we receive a spiritual inheritance having died to our old lives in Christ – made possible only through the death and resurrection of Christ as our saviour. This access to inheritance is to be a current reality that is explored on this side of eternity.
  3. Equipping people to live lives of overcoming. We all deeply desire the people we have been entrusted with to live victorious and blessed lives. The reality is, many people do not a) know that is possible, and/or b) know how to step into that life. Upskilling people to live life from a new view – Heaven’s perspective – is essential if we are to see a generation raised up who go from grace to grace and glory to glory, making Jesus’ name known and His fame grown.
